- Weight Limitations: 350 kg (770 lb) for a single place. 560.0 kg (1232 lb) for a two place
- Owner or Manufacturer built
- All maintenance and modifications performed by the owner
- License required – Pilot Permit – Ultralight Aeroplane, or higher

Amateur-Built
- Registration begins with an F or G, ex. C-F… or C-G…
- A minimum of 51% of the aircraft must be constructed by the builder.
- All maintenance and modifications performed by the owner
- License required – Recreational Pilot Permit, or higher

Owner Maintenance
- Owner Maintenance category aircraft are former certified aircraft with a Special Certificate of Airworthiness – Owner-maintenance. This allows the owner to perform the maintenance on the aircraft. Restrictions apply
- Registration begins with an F or G, ex. C-F… or C-G…
- Can not be flown in the U.S.
- License required – Recreational Pilot Permit, or higher


Certified
- Registration begins with an F or G, ex. C-F… or C-G…
- Manufacturer built
- Maintenance and modification must be performed by a Transport Canada Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME).
- License required – Recreational Pilot Permit, or higher
